The Indestructable Field Warrior's Smartphone...Where is it?

Beth Hahn, Buzzhaus

Smartphones rock.  There are so many things I accomplish each day on my Android that it literally paid for itself in less than two weeks.  I do alot of reselling on EBay, and use the Barcode Scanner app daily in price-costing.  It's saved me loads of time and research effort for comparisons, plus it's totally real-time-on-the-spot info so I can just keep rolling, I dig that.

So I got to thinking about how very many daily ops I've streamlined utilizing smartphone apps and I got really excited at the thought of rolling that into the Heavy Equipment and Construction Industry...an Indestructable Smartpone for the Field Warrior...Guess what...I couldn't find one out there.

There is not one Smartphone that is specifically marketed to the Heavy Equipment and Construction Equipment Rental Industry.  Ok, I found a few that are using Gorilla Glass, an innovative product Corningware came up with 65 years ago that now has an applicable market: "Corning’s Gorilla® Glass is an environmentally friendly alkali-aluminosilicate thin sheet glass designed specifically to function as a protective cover glass for high-end display devices such as notebook PCs, televisions and mobile phones."

I love seeing improvement, nods to Corning on this sexy demo/test video...and that's movement in the right direction and we'll most likely be hearing alot more about Gorilla Glass in the future.  But what about now?  There are lots of YouTube videos of smartphones with Gorilla Glass  key-scratch tested and dropped and that's totally applicable to daily use...but riddle me this...where is the BlackBox of Smartphones for our Field Warriors?

I want to field-test a smartphone by rolling over it with a Volvo EC27C, prying it up, wiping it off, downloading the video, and then watching my phone getting rolled over on my phone...That would be seriously FUNctional.  You'll notice I chose to start with a Compact Excavator  in soft soil :o)  The technology is there, the market is there...that's a phone I'd get behind and I'm curious if you would too.  What do you think and what would you like to see?  Let's lift the idea-bucket and build an indestructable Field Warrior smartphone right here...
